Package Contents:
In this package is (1) Cylinder Head Port adapter.
materials made of 6061-T6 Billet Aluminum CNC Machined and anodized for corrosion resistance.
**Important Considerations when testing:**
- When walnut blasting the intake ports the INTAKE VALVES MUST BE CLOSED at the port that is being cleaned. Otherwise walnut media can enter the cylinders and can cause damage when starting the engine.
This can be accomplished by rotating the crankshaft to close the intake valves on the cylinder being cleaned. If the crankshaft is inaccessible a remote trigger on the starter can also be used to blip the starter and change the crank position.
- Recommended to use a wand / gun that has a long reach tip. The blaster guns with a gravity feed hopper tank on top typically have short tips and may limit maneuverability. A long tip wand can be retrofitted.
Before you walnut blast your intake you’ll need:
- Shop Vac or vacuum source with the common 1-½” (40mm) vacuum to the vacuum port
- Air compressor and media blaster with a ⅜” wand. The wand port is 10mm.
- Walnut media
- Tools necessary to remove the intake manifold and to rotate the crankshaft for positioning the valves
Basic Instructions:
- Work on 1 port at a time. Rotate Crank to ensure valves are closed on the port being cleaned.
- Attach the vacuum hose and work the wand in all angles.
- Slide the port tool around and rotate it left to right to catch all angles.
- A cleaner solvent may be used to soak in for 10 - 15 minutes before media blasting. This will also ensure the valves are closed if the solvent doesn’t leak through.
